Identify the requesting agency, officer/official, professional agency contact details, relevant jurisdiction, legal authority for the request, and the specific account, records, and date range sought. Include appropriate legal documentation when required. Do not send sensitive credentials, unrelated identity documents, or payment-card information in an ordinary email.
Verification and legal process
We assess the authenticity, authority, scope, and legal basis of requests before disclosing private member information. We may seek clarification, require valid legal process, narrow an overbroad request, or decline requests that do not meet applicable legal requirements. Requests from members of the public are not treated as law-enforcement process.
Responses are limited to information we have and are permitted or required to provide under applicable law. We do not guarantee that particular records exist or will remain available under normal deletion schedules. When legally permitted and appropriate, we may notify an affected user; notice may be withheld if prohibited by law or necessary to prevent serious harm.
Emergency and exploitation reports
Human trafficking, sexual exploitation, coercion, child exploitation, and aiding or encouraging abuse are prohibited under our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy. We review reports of suspected serious violations and may restrict accounts, preserve relevant evidence, or make reports or disclosures to competent authorities when required or permitted by law.
If there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, public authorities should mark their message URGENT SAFETY REQUEST, describe the imminent danger, and provide a verified callback number and the specific information necessary to address the emergency. Submitting an urgent label does not eliminate the need for lawful authority. Email is not an emergency dispatch channel and is not monitored continuously. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services directly.
Preservation and limited disclosure
Upon receiving a sufficiently specific and legally valid preservation request, we may preserve responsive data in our possession for the period legally required or permitted. Preservation is not the same as disclosure; a separate valid legal basis may be required before records are released. Any preservation or release is limited to relevant data and handled in accordance with applicable law, our Privacy Policy, and security controls.
Member-visible messages normally expire under the schedules in our policies. A valid legal hold or abuse investigation may require limited preservation of particular records beyond member-visible expiration. We do not promise recovery of data that has already been deleted.
Information for members
Members should report suspected exploitation, threats, scams, or abuse using available Report and Block controls or through Support. Do not download or transmit suspected illegal imagery to support. If an immediate threat exists, contact local emergency services. Members seeking their own information should follow the Privacy Policy rather than this authority-only process.
